22.11.98 Franz Liszt: his contribution to Romanticism

Franz Liszt was one of the major componists of the 19th century. Even more than Beethoven or Berlioz, he developed through his work what is nowadays described as "Romanticism". This presentation is aimed at giving a short description of this period, followed by a more thorough analysis of Liszt's contribution to it. One of his most famous (piano) pieces will be performed to illustrate the presentation.

Dear BWAD-Friends

Thank you for joining us to the last BWAD-event of the year. In the idyllic athmosphere of Männedorf, this tiny little Swiss village covered with snow, in the warm and welcoming house of Philippe's teacher we enjoyed a broad selection of cheese and other good food prepared for us with love by Sylvie Marguerat.

Highlight of the brunch was Philippe Schwarcz, sharing with us his passion for Romanticism and giving us a taste of the different periods of music that lead to Romanticism, from Beethoven over Schubert to Liszt.

In the occasion of the end of the year we'd like to extend you a big THANK YOU for making this initiative possile and contributing actively to its success. In the name of the crew behind BWAD, the speakers, the hosts, our webmaster Tav, our driving force Monica and myself, I wish you all a

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
