"Brunches with a difference" (BWAD) for "people on the move" (POTM) is a unique opportunity - for an ever expanding circle of friends and associates - to participate in a social activity combined with culture and knowledge development.

We meet about once a month, on Sundays, to socialize - and expand our horizons in a relaxed atmosphere.

How it all started
Monica came to Yuval with the idea of sharing the knowledge that she acquired in a recently read book by way of a presentation to her friends. He liked the idea so much that he proposed holding presentations on other topics too. BWAD was born.

They asked some friends to join them - to get together and share their knowledge, experiences and curiosity by way of presentations and discussion groups - with others of the same inquisitive ilk. Sunday brunches would never be the same again!

Planning and organizing took some time, but by 12 July 1998 the inaugural group was ready to kick off with a first "cycle" of 9 presentations covering diverse topics from music to business, to health and philosophy.

Our Goals
On the one hand, we all have expertise and concrete interests in certain areas of life (supply). On the other, there remain many questions, unquenchable curiosity and even ignorance (demand).

Like most "oh-I’m-so-busy" individuals, we all face some limitations when it comes to allocating enough time to the vital process of learning - and strengthening our relationships with others.

Therefore, we want to create the necessary space - to come together with our manifold interests - to share and develop these in an enjoyable and stimulating way.

Moreover, we wish to explore how - over time - a group of loosely associated individuals may - together - evolve the concept of BWAD for POTM.

What’s in it for me?
You get a great opportunity to:
  • learn more about diverse topics you never had the time to explore
  • share your expertise and passions
  • enter into interesting discussions with truly interested people
  • train your presentation skills in a non-competitive environment
  • receive constructive feedback
  • open you mind to new ideas and stimuli
  • really do something with your Sundays

i.e. Enjoy learning, discussing and savoring thought provoking ideas with provocative people!

Can others also try this?
We encourage you to do so! It takes a certain amount of effort, but it is very rewarding to see a group of friends helping each other out to reach a common goal.

Many of the readers of this internet-site are likely to live miles away from Zurich (if not on another continent!), which makes participating difficult. If you want to organize something similar in your region, we're willing to share our experiences with you so that you and your friends can get things started up quickly. And you never know, we may on the odd occasion have the opportunity to cross pollinate by attending each other’s events…
