Softness
Beluga, Pallone and Marlin are the first three
pieces of furniture able to withstand the weather and wind of
outdoors. They are constructed from materials that are not susceptible
to corrosion and the upholstery has been replaced by a lacquer
application. This “Mellow Face Plus” is an application developed
in-house by Leolux to protect the foam, and give the furniture its
comfort. It forms an elastic skin around the piece of furniture and,
apart from being flexible, it is also extremely strong. Mellow Face
Plus is available at present in a range of 11 colours. The application
of this innovative technique has enabled Leolux to develop outdoor
design furniture that is also soft!
All three outdoor models are remarkable
thanks to their extraordinary design: firstly there is the futuristic
Pallone that has formed part of the Leolux collection since 1989. The
outdoor version looks different because of the lunar module feet that
prevent the Pallone from sinking into the ground. The Beluga, a
fish-shaped chaise longue, is completely new. The body of the
fish-seat is made of strong plastic, yet the seat is soft. You
sit down on the broad back and lean back against the tail fin. The
Marlin is the armchair
version of the Beluga, also designed by Oppewal & Van der
Velden. Marlin (just like the Beluga) is available as an indoor
armchair in leather and fabric and as an outdoor armchair in Mellow
Face Plus.
