| Six Sigma QA/QC cc, a company that provides services to the
refractory industry, was founded in March 2002 by Pieter van der Weele (PvdW). He was born
in the Netherlands and was trained as a draughtsman-designer by the aircraft designer and
builder, Fokker, in Amsterdam. He emigrated to South Africa in 1966, were he was employed by
different companies in the field of design and development, also working as an assistant project
engineer for one of the leading cement companies in SA.
In 1990 he joined the refractory fraternity, where he was mainly involved in Quality
Assurance and Quality Control for this industry. Some of the projects on which he did
QA/QC were the installation of refractories of the Reformer Plant at Mossgas, the Anode
Bake Furnace of the Hillside Smelter at Alusaf Richards Bay, and the Ilmenite Smelter for
Namakwa Sands during their initial construction.
Pieter van der Weele has also performed QA/QC for refractories at the revamp of the FCCU at
the Engen Refinery in Durban, South Africa, and the Electrolysis Cells at the Magnesium Project, Sdom,
Israel. |
